Celebration of World Veterinary Day 2021

Celebration of World Veterinary Day 2021The Veterinary Professionals are not only playing a crucial role by providing the means to accomplish good animal health and animal welfare through selfless, caring, compassionate attitude, but play an important role in human health also.

The world needs veterinary professionals.

In the year 2000, the World Veterinary Association created World Veterinary Day to praise the veterinary community and it is being celebrated on last Saturday of April. This year, the World Veterinary Day falls on 24th April, 2021.

Each year the World Veterinary Association (WVA) and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) choose a topic to promote and educate about the important role of veterinarians on the matter. The theme of World Veterinary Day 2021 is “Veterinarian response to the COVID-19 crisis.”

Currently the entire world is experiencing the desolation and devastation of a deadly virus, the new disease of COVID-19, emerging from the new coronavirus SARS-CoV 2, has spread throughout the world, affecting more than 200 countries and hundreds of people, with discouraging morbidity and mortality figures.

Of course, the dreaded Corona Virus wasn’t a new word for experienced veterinary professionals, but COVID-19 was a whirlwind, no one was expecting. Human doctors and nurses were faced with the impossible challenge of keeping up with the mental and physical wellbeing of the public and themselves.

We salute them and are forever in their debt. We felt we had to mention and give them a much-deserved shout out before diving back into the veterinary world.

Veterinarians were also faced with an insanely new and demanding challenge—the challenges of dealing with the general public while trying to treat their animals and pets.

Now, being an organization of Veterinary Professionals in the State of West Bengal, Progressive Veterinary Doctors’ Association (PVDA) decided to celebrate the World Veterinary Day this year on 24th April, 2021 through its Hooghly District Unit. On this occasion, a series of events will be organized to create awareness among the Veterinarians as well as general people.

Events:

At Seminar Hall of Deputy Director, ARD & PO, Hooghly:

  • Seminar on role of motivation and coping behavior in stress management- seminar will be made online for better participation of Veterinarians from all over the State.

At State Animal Health Centre, Chinsura, Hooghly:
