About PVDA

Progressive Veterinary Doctors’ Association, better known as PVDA, is the Nationalistic Professional Organization for Veterinarians serving the Department of Animal Resources Development, Government of West Bengal. The organization was formed in the year 2015 by some leading Nationalistic Veterinarians of erstwhile Bengal Veterinary College and Veterinarians under the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya and West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, primarily in order to address the challenges facing by Veterinary Profession across the State and fulfilling the professional aspiration of Veterinarians and to maintain the honour and dignity and to uphold the interest of the veterinary professionals and to promote co-operation amongst the members thereof. The organization was registered under The West Bengal Society Registration Act 1961. The members of PVDA provide animal health care services from the remotest AHC to the largest veterinary college or university, teach & train the undergraduate and postgraduate students of modern medicine and manage public health through protecting and improving animal health programmes and perform administrative work from block level to the state headquarters.

PVDA is primarily committed to take care of issues pertaining to both for working Veterinarians under Government of West Bengal as well as the retired Veterinarians of the State. PVDA is also having a University unit under West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences. Different academic related issues are being taken up with active support of Professors, Scientists and Students of the University. The organization is also committed to organize movement for the cause of the Students of the University.

PVDA also proudly announces that we are affiliated to Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) (No. 24/2019) having its head office in Chennai, Tamilnadu under the able leadership of Dr. Chirantan Kadian, President, IVA. The association with IVA help us to put forward our professional issues at National level and so also open up a window of opportunity to play an important role in decision making process at the apex level of Veterinarians.
